Modern Lake House Design with Rustic Touch

This house is located on Mercer Island, Washington, designed by architects of Hutchison & Maul Architects and was built as close to the lake as possible as permitted by law. This house is characterized by its rustic metals and an overhang volume that is cantilevered above the entrance, the living space in this volume is built deep enough creating a sheltered area that protects the interior from overexposure sunrays. At the left side of the house, there’s a stairway that leads to the beautiful courtyard. The landscape design of this area resembles the nature with its large stones and steeply walkways that lead to the rear entrance or continuous to the stairway that leads to the guest room. This 900-sq foot house was designed with a direct access to the water to accommodate living and recreation. The first level of the house is also designed to accommodate the family’s water sport equipment among bathroom and changing room. For a private joy in this environment, the master bedroom has a terrace which has unobstructed views to the main theme in this environment, the lake.
